Acer palmatum is the classic Japanese maple for bonsai cultivation. Completely frost hardy, vigorous and very tough. The delightful and delicate leaves can create the most breathtaking display of colour in autumn. Keep the tree well watered in summer and fertilize regularly throughout the growing season. Protect from strong winds when in leaf. Best autumn colour is achieved if the tree is kept in full sun. Repot every 2-3 years using Kaizen Bonsai No2 Bonsai Soil Mix.
From a private collection and very long term ownership. This maple was a bit sad and neglected when we bought it home but after a re-pot and a period of TLC it's now growing VERY strongly. A good sized maple at a bargain basement price. Lots of styling potential.
