Kaneshin Small Bonsai Knuckle Cutter - Kaneshin Knob Cutter

Kaneshin Cutlery Mfg (Japan) is a family owned business that have been making superior quality cuttlery and tools since 1919. Still family owned and operated these super high quality bonsai tools are hand made by time served craftsmen in small numbers using the very highest quality Yasuki-Hagane steels carefully selected to give the best performance depending upon the tools use.

Kaneshin are known around the world for making the best quality bonsai pruning and cutting tools. For the price nothing else comes close. Every tool is a consumate work of art and every detail has been refined over decades to ensure exemplary performance and a lifetime of service.

Kaneshin bonsai tools are available in many patterns and combinations of steel. This is to ensure best performance but it's important, as with all tools, to select the correct tool for the job and use it appropriately to avoid damage or poor performance.

The model 10 is a small knob/knuckle cutter expertly crafted from exceptional SK steel. Knuckle cutters of this type leave a concave finished cut. This aids healing because as the cut is covered in new bark it will not leave a bump. A beautifully finished tool with curved handles that make them very comfortable in the hand. With care these knuckle cutters will last a lifetime. Don't let the low price fool you, Kaneshin don't make anything except outstanding bonsai tools!

After removing a branch with a branch cutter use a knuckle cutter to refine the cut and reduce its height in order to promote flush healing. When cutting with this type of tool it's important to remember that putting excess pressure on the blades can result in damage.

Use for trimming cuts prior to sealing. The thickness of the material that can be cut is roughly 1/3 the width of the blade (maximum 4/6mm in the middle of the blade) on all bonsai trees. Where wood is dry and hard maximum cut size should be reduced or best attempted with multiple smaller cuts or 'nibbles'. Excess force will damage or break any knuckle cutter.

The cutting blades of knuckle cutters overlap very slightly giving a scissor action when cutting. This ensures a long blade life and reduces the need for regular sharpening.

175mm overall length. 12mm blade length. Maximum cut in one bite is roughly 1/3 the blade length when the cut is performed in the middle of the blade.

Supplied in a printed presentation box as shown.

SK steel will rust if not cared for appropriately. Always give a wipe over with Camellia Oil after use. Always ensure the tools pivot is oiled prior to use, this will ensure decades of exempary performance and prevent wear.
