Wych Elm Native Bonsai Tree

Wych elm (Ulmus glabra) has the largest range of all European elms and occurs from Ireland in the west right out to the Urals in the east and up to the arctic circle. Also known as Scotch elm. It's a little coarser than Ulmus procera but also considerably more vigorous, faster growing and much more robust and tolerant of adverse conditions. Leaves are slightly larger than English elm but in all other respects it can be treated the same. Glabra?is fully hardy in all parts of the U.K and grows vigorously thus allowing fast development. For young trees in the early stages of development it is best to re-pot every year, his will keep the trees vigour high.?Mature trees can be left two years between re-potting. Fertilise this variety regularly throughout the growing season and always water very well.

Autumn will see the tree put on a splendid display of yellow colour before leaf drop.

From the private collection of a renowned Scottish bonsai artist. This elm has spent decades in a bonsai pot and is a rare example of this variety as mature bonsai. Super tough and very fast growing variety native across the entire UK.

Planted in a nice handmade and signed bonsai pot (yet to be identified).

22" tall above it's bonsai pot. 22" wide overall.
